The Diamond Hard Coat 607 750mL Beginners Kit is the easiest way to try our clear 2:1 epoxy resin. It is formulated for enhanced resistance to UV discolouration and cures to a hard, high-gloss clear coat on canvas, timber, concrete and fibreglass. Very low viscosity gives fast bubble release, and you get about 30 minutes of working time at 25 °C.

How to use Diamond Hard Coat 607

1
Set up
Work between 20 °C and 30 °C. Raise your piece a few centimetres above the work surface so excess resin can run off.
2
Measure 2:1
Measure 2 parts resin (Part A) to 1 part hardener (Part B) by volume into a straight-sided mixing container.
3
Mix thoroughly
Mix for several minutes until the mix is evenly clear. For batches up to 16 litres, use a paint mixer on a drill at slow speed.
4
Pour
Pour onto your surface and let it flow over the edges. To tint, mix a larger batch and split it into smaller containers.
5
Release bubbles
Lightly pass a propane torch flame over the surface to help release bubbles.
6
Clean the edges
After about an hour, wipe or scrape any drips off the edges.
Pour 1–2 mm per coat. Build thicker finishes in layers.

FAQs

What is the mix ratio for Diamond Hard Coat 607?+
2 parts resin (Part A) to 1 part hardener (Part B) by volume. Measure into a straight-sided container and mix for several minutes until the mix is evenly clear.
How long is the working time?+
A 250mL mix stays fluid for around 30 minutes at 25 °C. Larger batches and warmer rooms shorten the working time.
How thick can I pour each coat?+
Pour 1–2 mm per coat. Diamond Hard Coat 607 is a coating resin, not a deep-pour casting resin.
Can I cast or pour into moulds with Diamond Hard Coat 607?+
No. Diamond Hard Coat 607 is a coating resin only. It is not designed for casting or pouring into moulds.
How much resin do I need?+
As a guide, 1 litre of mixed resin covers approximately 1 m² at 1 mm thick, so the 750mL Beginners Kit covers about 0.75 m² at 1 mm. Porous surfaces such as raw timber and canvas absorb more.
How long does it take to cure?+
At 20 °C, a 1–2 mm coat is set in about 1 day and fully cured in about 3 days.
Is Diamond Hard Coat 607 a UV resin?+
No. It is a two-part epoxy that cures when the resin and hardener are mixed. "UV resistant" means it is formulated for enhanced resistance to discolouration from UV light.
How much heat can it handle once cured?+
Once fully cured, it is heat resistant up to 80 °C.
Why is my resin thick or cloudy?+
Resin and hardener can go thick and cloudy in cold weather. Stand the bottles, caps removed, in very hot water and stir until the liquids are runny and clear, then let them cool to room temperature before mixing.

Safety & storage

Protection
Wear protective gloves and glasses when mixing and using. Always wear a mask when using any solvent cleaner.
Ventilation
Work in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Over-exposure may cause sensitisation.
Storage
Keep caps on bottles when not in use. Store at room temperature (approx. 18 °C), away from direct sunlight and not on concrete floors.
Clean-up
Remove uncured resin with a solvent or methylated spirits, then wash with warm soapy water.

Diamond hard coat

Dry too slow, take more than 1 day, very fluidity, when dry I don’t think it is diamond hard, use nail can make a mark

Thank you for your feedback. Diamond Hard Coat is designed as a low-viscosity top coat, so the thinner consistency is normal and helps it self-level smoothly. Please note that 24 hours is only the initial cure stage — epoxy continues to harden over several days, becoming stronger and more scratch resistant with time. We recommend allowing more curing time before judging the final hardness.
