About Flow Medium

Designed to decrease viscosity. A mix ratio of 2:1 of Flow Medium to acrylic paint.

Flow Medium is compatible with a wide range of other mediums, making it versatile for situations requiring reduced viscosity.

To achieve optimal results, it is crucial to disperse Flow Medium evenly prior to applying paints. This blend works wonders for techniques that necessitate a sleek finish.

Flow Medium will effectively extend drying time when added.

Looking for a flow aid? Unlike concentrated flow aid additives, which need diluting and careful dosing, Flow Medium is ready to mix straight from the bottle, making it an easy way to improve the flow of your acrylic paint.

Uses

Glazing
Mix a small amount of colour into Flow Medium and build depth with multiple thin, transparent layers.
Smooth gradients
Pre-mix two values with Flow Medium, lay them side by side, then blend where they meet for soft transitions.
Underpainting
Create a smooth, thin first layer, then return with thicker paint for highlights and texture.
Thinning without water
Thin your paint while staying within an acrylic medium system, instead of relying on water alone.

For fluid art pours, use Solid Solutions Pouring Medium.

How to use

1
Shake
Before use, gently shake the bottle.
2
Mix
Dispense your acrylic paint onto a palette or into a mixing cup, then add Flow Medium. Start with 2 parts Flow Medium to 1 part paint, adding more medium for greater flow or more paint for more body and coverage.
3
Stir thoroughly
Mix until the blend is completely uniform so the paint applies and dries evenly.
4
Test
Try a stroke on a scrap surface. You want smoother movement and easier levelling, not a watery, weak mix.
5
Apply and blend
Apply for smooth coverage, gradients and soft transitions. Flow Medium extends drying time, giving you longer to blend.
6
Clean up
Clean brushes with soap and water after use.

Good tool to have in your acrylic toolkit

Solid Solutions Flow Medium is excellent when you want to cover an area, and retain the ability to move the paint around. The Flow Medium helps me significantly because my painting style needs me to be able to "mix and move" on the surface of the canvas to get the effects that I want.

Beginner/novice? Choose carefully

Being a beginner, I bought 2 x flow medium instead of pouring medium. I wondered why it was so thin!. I will use it in conjunction with other ingredients to make up a pouring medium.I like Solid solutions product in general so far.
