How to apply gesso

1
Stir and prepare
Stir the gesso well. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of dust or grease.
2
Seal absorbent surfaces
On very absorbent surfaces such as raw MDF or timber, thin the first coat with up to 20% water or Solid Solutions Flow Medium.
3
Apply thin, even coats
Use a wide flat brush or foam roller and alternate the direction of each coat. Let each coat dry fully before the next.
4
Build the right number of coats
Two coats for acrylic painting, and a minimum of three for oil painting. Sand lightly between coats for a smoother finish.

Great Product

The gesso is an excellent product which I have used for a while now. The delivery may need to be reviewed. Although the bucket had it's lid taped on It still managed to leak by the time I received it. Losses were minimal, it was messy to clean up though. Probably needs to be kept upright in transit.
