EPOXY Tips
Better Results Start Here!
Simple tips that make a big difference when working with epoxy resin.
1. Measure Accurately
Follow the ratio exactly.
Volume vs Weight
Even small mistakes can cause sticky, soft, or uncured epoxy resin. Always use the manufacturer’s recommended mix ratio.
2. Mix Thoroughly
Mix slowly for 2–3 minutes.
Scrape the sides and bottom of the cup while mixing. For best results, use the double-mix method by transferring to a second cup and mixing again.
3. Check the Temperature
Work between 20°C – 25°C.
Cold temperatures can slow curing and trap bubbles, while high temperatures can shorten working time and make epoxy resin cure too quickly.
4. Prepare Your Surface
Clean, dry and dust-free.
Surface preparation is critical. Seal porous surfaces like wood with a thin seal coat first to reduce bubbles and improve adhesion.
5. Prevent Bubbles
Warm your resin and mix slowly.
Use a heat gun or torch carefully to remove bubbles within the first 10–15 minutes after pouring. Avoid overheating the surface.
6. Protect from UV
Use UV-stable epoxy resin.
UV-stable epoxy resin helps reduce yellowing over time and keeps your finish looking clearer for longer.
7. Work in a Clean Space
Dust is the enemy of a perfect finish.
Keep your workspace clean and cover your project while curing to prevent dust, hair, and debris from settling into the epoxy resin.
8. Be Patient
Allow full cure time.
Do not sand, polish, move, or heavily use your project before the epoxy resin has fully cured. Good results take time.
PRO TIP
A little preparation saves a lot of problems.
Take your time, follow the correct steps, and your epoxy resin results will look more professional every time.

What is Epoxy Resin?
Epoxy resin is a two-part system made up of resin (Part A) and hardener (Part B). When mixed at the correct ratio, epoxy resin cures into a strong, durable, high-gloss finish.
Epoxy Resin Mixing Ratios & Why They Matter
⚠️ Volume vs Weight Matters
Not all epoxy resin is mixed the same way:
-
Volume: Most art resins (1:1)
-
Weight: Professional systems
Do not swap methods. This causes sticky or uncured epoxy resin.
Common Epoxy Resin Problems & How to Fix Them
Sticky or Soft Epoxy Resin
Cause: Incorrect ratio or poor mixing
Fix: Remove uncured epoxy resin and reapply correctly
Epoxy Resin Not Curing
Cause: Wrong ratio
Fix: Remix again with correct ratio
Cloudy or Dull Finish
Cause: Moisture or cold conditions
Fix: Sand and apply new coat
Fish Eyes
Cause: Surface contamination
Fix: Sand, clean, and recoat
Uneven / Tacky Areas
Cause: Inconsistent mixing
Fix: Sand and recoat
Yellowing
Cause: To much UV exposure
Fix: Use UV-resistant topcoat
Advanced Epoxy Resin Problems
Bubbles
Cause: Fast mixing or cold resin
Fix: Use heat gun
Pinholes
Cause: Outgassing, rising air

Pro Tip
Most epoxy resin problems come from incorrect ratios, poor mixing, or bad temperature. Control these and your results will always improve.
