Thin your acrylic paint without weakening it. Choose Pouring Medium for acrylic pouring and fluid art, or Flow Medium for smooth blending, glazing, gradients and underpainting.

Our acrylic pouring medium is a self-levelling, high-gloss medium for flip cup, dirty pour and cell techniques. Mix 1 part paint to 1 to 2 parts medium for a smooth, honey-like pour that dries clear, flexible and water resistant. Available in 250ml, 1 litre and 4 litre sizes.

Pouring medium or flow medium?

Pouring Medium

A high-gloss, self-levelling medium for acrylic pouring, flip cup and dirty pours. Mix 1 part paint to 1 to 2 parts medium. Add silicone oil for cells. Dries clear, flexible and water resistant. 250ml, 1 Litre and 4 Litre.

Flow Medium

A transparent, flexible medium that decreases viscosity for smooth brushwork, glazing, gradients and underpainting. Start with 2 parts Flow Medium to 1 part paint. Extends drying time so you have longer to blend. 250ml and 1 Litre.

What is the difference between pouring medium and flow medium?+

Pouring Medium is a self-levelling, high-gloss medium for acrylic pouring and fluid art. Flow Medium reduces viscosity for brushwork techniques such as glazing, smooth gradients and underpainting, and extends drying time.

What ratio of pouring medium to paint should I use?+

Use 1 part acrylic paint to 1 to 2 parts Pouring Medium. Start closer to 1:2 for heavy-body acrylics; 1:1 is often enough for fluid acrylics. Aim for a warm honey consistency.

How much flow medium do I add to acrylic paint?+

Start with 2 parts Flow Medium to 1 part paint, then add more medium for greater flow or more paint for more body and coverage.

Why use a medium instead of water?+

Too much water weakens acrylic paint. These mediums thin and improve flow while keeping the dried paint film strong and flexible.

How do I create cells in an acrylic pour?+

Add a small amount of silicone oil to your paint mixed with Pouring Medium and stir gently. Over-stirring gives smaller cells.

Why is my acrylic pour cracking?+

Cracking or separation is usually caused by over-thinning with water, pouring very thick layers, or drying too quickly in hot or dry conditions.

How do I clean up?+

Wash brushes, cups and tools with soap and water while the medium is still wet.
